The role of the KZN Dressage committee is to oversee the sport of
dressage in KwaZulu Natal. The committee reports to the Kwazulu Natal
Horse Society executive committee.
The committee members give graciously of their time and
expertise.
Without the committee there would be virtually no dressage in KZN.
The KZN Dressage committee is responsible for the following tasks:
- Appointment of the selectors for each of the KZN Provincial
Dressage Teams
- Liaise with the SANEF technical committee for dressage
- Keep the KZN public informed of matters arising from SANEF
(Rules/Clinics etc)
- Approval of schedules for all affiliated dressage shows
- Promotion of dressage in KZN
- Boost awareness of Dressage in KZN
- Encouragement of Pony riders/ Juniors and Young riders
- Newsletters
- Website/ maintenance of the results database.
- Para Dressage
- Marketing and Sponsorship
- Promotion and education of judges
- Judges Seminars
- Dressage Clinics and Seminars
- Education of officials
- Approval of Affiliated Show Venues
In addition the KZN Dressage committee is running several shows over
the year. It is unfortunate that the past show holding bodies no longer
wish to run affiliated shows. It has therefore become necessary for the
committee to step in take over this task. This therefore puts a huge
amount of strain on the committee. The organisation of shows is an
enormous task and preparation starts several weeks before the show to a
couple of weeks after the show. Therefore if one thinks of offering one
affiliated show a month, the committee spends 90% of their time in the
throes of show organisation.
This gives very little time to pursue legitimate committee activities
as listed above.
The committee is constantly on the look out for willing people to run
shows within their own capacity. If anyone is interested in becoming
involved with the running of shows, please let us know. Email
